Maki – Beirut

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010. Filed under: Japanese

A legendary chain, started in Kuwait, and lead by a very innovative business man, who bent the rules to create the marvel that is maki. True, a lot of copy cats tried to follow in Maki’s steps, but no one even came close to its uniqueness in the kitchen and its catering to Kuwaity taste.

We have already shared our visits with Maki Kuwait, and how their Bahraini branch was a new experience of dining with its luxurious setting. But we have yet to share one more; the branch where the fine dining experience all started its journey to Bahrain, the branch in the Kuwaiti tourism hot spot.. Beirut, Lebanon; the Paris of the middle east. Unfortunately, when they did open, they opened in downtown Beirut, at the time of Al-Hariris assassination, and had to close down.

Maki has reopened its doors in “Alashrafeya”, with a gorgeous setting, outside and in. We constantly heard people boasting how good the dishes were, and mms and aahs filled the tables with french compliments being given to the waiters about the magnificent meals. The atmosphere was absolutely superb, with the food, people, and good music, what more can we ask for?

Oh, and we decided to skip the review about the food in this one too, because everything is exactly the same in all five branches. We have yet to see a restaurant that matches their consistency and attention to trend, and the excellency of merging it with the traditional Japanese experience. Its unquestionable that Maki has been  the “Avante-Garde” of the Japanese cuisine.

Go to what we call the “master of chains”. Whether in Kuwait, Bahrain or Beirut. Read, Kuweat and Enjoy.
