Rice Restaurant

Rice; the name speaks for it self. A cool and creative concept that is not foreign for our society at all, yet astonishing in its presentation and bravery. They took rice, a grain that has forever been used in endless countries as a main source of nutrition, put it on a very humble modernized tray and finally categorized our favorite international rice dishes for us to devour. Whatever the rice dish is, it will be there.

In the middle of the very busy avenues, rice has a very unique and comfortable setting in front of the restaurant. Though the colors are cool and futuristic, it is one of the most comfortable places to enjoy a meal in that food court.

However, all of what we like was bashed to bits after we tasted the food. They took the most common food we eat in Kuwait and didn’t make it in anyway special, hence; rice is just for show. Why should we eat a mediocre biryani if our kitchen at home can make a homemade version a thousand times better? The quality of both the rice and herbs used were average, or maybe even below average in some cases. The only good thing we had were their appetizers. But that’s not enough for a restaurant in Kuwait, we all know that.

The biggest challenge for a restaurant in Kuwait, is to give Kuweaters a reason to move away from their amazing food at home and to eat something different. Something unique that they cant enjoy in the comfort of their own home.

We hope that the “rice” family realizes that their concept is too good for them to spoil it with what makes a restaurant, the food. Its not a design contest, its about the food guys.
