Lola’s cupcakes – London

Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010. Filed under: Cafes & Bakeries

Walking in the streets of Mayfair, we hit a miniature pedestrian road lined with local cafés and stores; the most modern storefront- the very first one- caught my eye. A slick design, with a simple bar facing the glass façade, topped with a lit sign- “Lola’s Cupcakes”.

We went in, checked out the display, I was too busy thinking about the French Breakfast tea I was going to drink at Selfridges- till I saw the mini cupcakes and their juicy carrot cake on display.

We grabbed a late, a piece of the carrot cake, and two small cupcakes: red velvet and chocolate. Though the cupcakes weren’t as chewy and soft as I expected- they were extremely light! So they get thumbs up for that.

The cream cheese icing on top of the red velvet wasn’t overwhelming- it was just right; complimenting the sweet red velvet cake. Finally, the carrot cake was our favorite pick. With its sweet icing and buttery texture- definitely one of the best we’ve tried!
