On a sunny summer day in wonderful Los Angeles, we drove down to West 3rd street to have what turned out to be a wonderful brunch. A corner café called Toast was our pick, a hotspot filled with a young and hip LA crowd. The interior was comfortable, and cozy with a few couches in a corner, ceiling fans, and desserts on display next to the cashier. Though the design was very basic, the food was what made this place a Saturday brunch favorite for the past couple of years.

We were seated outside by the friendly staff, enjoying the lovely weather and were handed a menu with endless selections of breakfast favorites and lovely fusions of my favorite flavors. My friend suggested her favorite, and also the cafes apparently; the “favorite” omelet was stuffed with goat cheese, sun dried tomatoes, basil, and avocados. The eggs were fluffy and once the omelets envelope was cut in half you could see all the wonderful colors of the ingredients inside. I loved the strong flavor of the goat cheese and tomatoes that complimented the texture and subtlety of the eggs and avocados. Teamed up with a side of potatoes, it was to die for.  Hollandaise sauce wasn’t poured on top of our second egg dish. Our poached eggs, on top of an English muffin, were drenched in mushroom-spinach cream sauce in stead. We substituted the “Eggs Florentine’s” toast with an English muffin and we loved it!

Finally, to satisfy out sweet tooth, we shared their classic French toast. Fluffy and drizzled with syrup, with bananas and strawberries around the large pieces of toast, it certainly made our brunch fulfilling and drew our smile on our faces.

Definitely two thumbs up for a hearty brunch that you can walk off shopping in the unique boutiques of 3rd street. Read, Kuweat and Enjoy in the City of Angels.
